Man in Bondage
There are three dolls the first made of salt, the second made of cloth, and the third of stone. If these dolls are immersed in water, the first doll made of salt will become dissolved and lose its form. The second doll made from cloth will absorb a large quantity of water but retain its form. The third doll, made of stone, will remain impervious to water. The first doll made from salt represents the man who merges his self in the universal and all-pervading Self and becomes one with It. He is the liberated man. The second doll from cloth represents the Bhakta (devotee) or the true lover of God, who is full of Divine bliss and knowledge. And the third doll made of stone, represents the worldly man who will not admit even a particle of true knowledge into his heart.

  1. I simply want to mention I am very new to blogging and definitely liked your web-site. Most likely I’m likely to bookmark your blog . You certainly come with impressive writings. Kudos for sharing with us your web-site.

    • the literal meaning of spiritual is:
      World English Dictionary
      spiritual (ˈspɪrɪtjʊəl)

      — adj
      1. relating to the spirit or soul and not to physical nature or matter; intangible
      2. of, relating to, or characteristic of sacred things, the Church, religion, etc
      3. standing in a relationship based on communication between the souls or minds of the persons involved: a spiritual father
      4. having a mind or emotions of a high and delicately refined quality

In the above para the author is trying to explain the meaning of a spiritual person.

    • When our soul becomes one with God. I dont mean death, the resurrection after death, In Hindus it means obtaining samadhi, In Christians it means ascension for holy people or resurrection at the time of judgement day, as a muslim you may have your own understanding.
But meditation and prayers and good deeds are the first stage of spiritualism.

  2. Well, i think Spirituality only doesnt mean the immateriality or materiality at all, to achieve Self-purification included with it too. Thats why i think Acceptance of “The Great void” is the last stage of spirituality which means to sacrifice “the small human egotism”, By void i want to mean that when you sacrifice illusion of the self (the me, my senses, my feelings etc. whatever), you can feel great emptiness (=void) inside of you & in my view the perfect spirituality should deserve to achieve this “great void”.

    • You are absolutely right, Somebody asked Buddha, I want Happiness, how can I attain happiness? Buddha replied, remove ‘I’ it is ego, remove ‘want’ it is desire , what remains is ‘happiness’. In order to be happy , we have to forgo ego and desire.

  3. and to clarify more: to accept void means to search a person inside of you while sacrificing self/ego & that may define as “man of Mind’. I believe every human being contain God inside of him & to me Spirituality means to search the ‘Man of Mind” as well as “God Seekers’.

    • God resides in every living thing, In you and also in me, we should not forget this and keep our mind and body clean, and respect every other creature.
